Silly Question

I have the opportunity to buy 2 1908 Franc's at spot. I know buying anything at spot is a good deal, but my question is this...is it worth buying, or would I be better off paying say $20 more and getting modern bullion? I'm not looking for wealth preservation no numismatic value as much as I am looking to make a profit.

The answer is simple in my mind, that buying at spot regardless is always better but I'm not an expert which is why I am asking you fine gentlemen. I also think I could make more off the Franc's if I find the right buyer where as finding the right buyer for modern pure bullion is much easier.

Any input is appreciated. Or if you want the Franc's because your a die hard for them, Ill buy em and sell them to you for $5 over cost plus shipping...

Correct me if I'm wrong GIMers, but no gold coin is available for spot at the retail level. You would have to get lucky on eBay or use those cash back offers to get a gold coin there for spot also. So, if you can get gold at spot, GET IT!

If you're buying to make money, then obviously, if you buy cheaper than anybody else would be able to, you will make money. Just buy it soon because gold has been going up all day!

Yes.

I own a whole collection of them from 1600s to 1908. :23_1_22:

I'd like to know when gold became something other than, well, gold?

My dealer here in town has gotten to know me quite well so I pay less premiums than other customers (The fact that I spend almost spare penny I have there also helps). On "non modern bullion" such as sovereigns and these franc's he always sells to me at spot, well basically, still have to pay damn sales tax on them.
